General Information

Corau are small mammalian creatures, about the size of a large cat, with a generally friendly disposition. All Corau are sentient and have the ability to speak the human tongue. Notably, all Corau have the basic ability to float (or fly) up to ten metres from the ground without any aid. Another unusual feature of the Corau is that they are all empaths, able to feel and alter the emotions of others around them. Despite this, they are not telepathic.

Physically most Corau share the same basic body type, with some small variations in height, size and bulk. Their ears and tails are unusual in that any tail or ear type can occur on any Corau. So one Corau might have long ears and a short tail, where another Corau might have fluffy ears and a cat-like tail. No type of ears or tail are considered a mutation or unusual, with the exceptions of multiple tails and the like.

Corau are also known to carry a large amount of unusual traits. Corau are known to regularly have horns, wings, manes, feathers and so on. However, all Corau sans some special types such as Demons have regular paws and black eyes.

Corau will live in most any habitats as long as they are not taken to the extreme in terrain and temperature (e.g. deserts), but largely prefer areas that have wide, open spaces.

Breeding Information

Corau join groups which are known as an emotion, for example 'Emotion of Delights'. There are no particular naming rules for an emotion, just that it is referred to as an emotion in its name. Up to 6 males and 6 females will join an emotion, at which point is considered full. No relatives may join the same emotion, unless they are of the same gender. The founding member of the emotion is considered the leader, and can be of either gender. It should be indicated on the Emotion's page whether each member is open for permission or not.

Corau are sometimes, but rarely, known to take on partners for life. Sometimes they will join an emotion geared solely towards paired couples. Other times Corau will breed outside of emotions and partners, although this is even rarer. Demons exclusively take on one life partner, usually another demon, as they are shunned by other Corau for their evil disposition.

When rarer Corau types are breeding, it takes two of the same type to guarantee the same special type of Corau. If two different Corau types are breeding, then there is fifty percent chance that the Corau can go either way. So for example if a Normal Corau was bred to an Elemental Corau, it has an equal chance to be born a normal Corau or an elemental. From then on every generation will halve its chance to become the type its parent didn't - so keeping with the example, if this Corau was born normal, it will have a 25% chance to have elemental offspring, its normal children a 12.5% chance, etc.

Corau types

Most Corau do not have any special classification or type; only about one in ten will have one. Any Corau can give birth to any one of the following types.

Elemental Corau often have part of their element visible on them; for example, a fire Corau may have a fiery tail. Each Corau element is unique, as every breeding between two Corau will result in a mixture between the parents two elements. Elemental Corau are the more populous type of 'special' Corau.

The other known types of 'special' Corau are known as Mysticants, which are very rare. The known types are Soothsayers, who have the ability of telepathy and foresight although are usually blind and thus cover their eyes with hoods or blindfolds. Mages have the power over all five elements. Demons are a very unique type of Corau; these guys do not have the peaceful disposition of most Corau, instead they are often violent and destructive. They are said to bring bad luck, curses and have power over illusions and the dark magics of tricksters. They're distinct from other Corau types in that they have red-on-black eyes (occasionally another colour on black) and talons.

Due to their volatile genes, however, new types of Corau are appearing all the time. So far, the most recent new Corau type is giant - Corau that are about four times larger than the average Corau.
